Privacy

The National Adult Literacy Agency (NALA), the publisher of www.simplyput.ie, is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy lets you know how your personal information is used. We promise that we will take steps to use your personal information only in ways that align with this policy.

What information are we collecting and how are we collecting it?

Every computer connected to the internet is given a domain name and a set of numbers that serve as that computer's Internet Protocol (IP) address. If you request a page from within www.simplyput.ie, our web servers automatically recognise your domain name and IP address. These reveal nothing personal about you, other than the IP address from which you have accessed our site. We use this information to examine the overall traffic, but we do not collect and evaluate this information for individuals.

How do cookies work on simplyput.ie?

From time to time, www.simplyput.ie may send a "cookie" to your computer. A cookie is a small piece of data that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. A cookie can't read data from your hard disk or read cookie files created by other sites. Cookies do not damage your system. We use cookies to identify which pages on www.simplyput.ie you have visited, so that in time we may provide a better and more personalized experience for you.

You can choose whether or not to accept cookies by changing the settings of your browser. You can reset your browser to refuse all cookies, or allow your browser to show you when a cookie is being sent. If you choose not to accept these cookies, your experience on our site may be diminished and some features may not work as intended.

What other information do we ask for?

We may also ask for your e-mail address or mailing address to conduct a survey or to provide additional services (for example, subscriptions to e-mail newsletters or information about events). Whenever we ask the identity of a visitor, we will clearly indicate why we ask before we ask. We also promise not to send you an email that you have not agreed to receive.

Will we share the information we collect to outside third parties?

NALA may share information about groups of our users to third parties but we will not share any information that could personally identify you without your direct consent. We use reasonable precautions to keep the information disclosed to us secure. We have put security policies, rules and technical measures in place to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, improper use or disclosure. We will not sell, rent, or otherwise give your e-mail address to a third-party, without your consent. Furthermore, we are not responsible for any breach of security or for the actions of any third parties who receive the information.

Are there any circumstances where NALA will share specific personal information?

On rare occasions, we will release specific personal information about you if we have to comply with any valid legal process such as:

  • a search warrant,
  • subpoena,
  • statute, or
  • court order.
